Evaluation Model
5% Free Buffer + 5 Key Depressions (1 Word) Deduction · Qualifying Speed: 8,000 KDPH (~26.67 WPM) over 10 Minutes
Under UKPSC statutory recruitment rules (conducted at Gyanodaya Computer Lab, Haridwar), candidates typing in English must achieve a net speed of 8,000 KDPH (~26.67 WPM). Up to 5% errors are exempted from penalty; each mistake beyond 5% deducts 5 key depressions from gross output. The test is qualifying in nature.
For standard Junior Assistant posts, Hindi typing (4,000 KDPH) is mandatory. English typing (8,000 KDPH) is optional or carries preference for specific department posts such as Urban Local Bodies DEO and Secretariat cadres.
UKPSC provides a 5% free mistake buffer on gross words typed. For mistakes exceeding 5%, 5 key depressions (equivalent to 1 full word) are deducted per excess mistake from your gross output before calculating net KDPH and net WPM.
English typing uses standard QWERTY layout. For Hindi, Kruti Dev 010 or Mangal Inscript is provided at the Haridwar center.
